Hack The Box にVPNで接続できない、もしくは失敗する

サイバーセキュリティの専門家や実務家が使用している海外で有名な侵入テスト（ペネトレーションテスト）プラットフォーム「Hack The Box」にVPNで接続できない、もしくは失敗することについて解説します。

■PC環境

Windows 10 Pro

VirtualBox6.1

Kali Linux 2021.1（Debian (64-bit)）,Python 3.9.2

■VPNで接続できない、もしくは失敗する

Hack The Boxのダッシュボードにある「Labs」の「Access」ページから「connection pack」の”here”の文字をクリックすることで、「username.ovpn」をダウンロードして、OpenVPNで接続を行いました。失敗。

しかも、「username.ovpn」をダウンロード後、Hack The Boxのダッシュボードにある「Labs」の「Access」ページが消える。表示されない。

「Access」ページが表示されないので「connection pack」がダウンロードできず、管理画面の右側上部にある「CONNECT TO HTB」から「Labs」をクリック。

クリック後、「OpenVPN」をクリックし、「Connect to a VPN server」で「Free」となっているサーバーを選択し、接続を試みるも失敗。

失敗したので、別の手段として、ダッシュボードにある「Labs」の「Starting Point」で「Connect to Starting Point」をクリック。クリック後、「OpenVPN」をクリックし、「Connect to a VPN server」で「Starting Point」となっているサーバーを選択し、接続を試みるも失敗。

#sudo openvpn users.ovpn

上記のコマンドでOpenVPN接続を試みても、何回は接続に成功するが、下記のメッセージが表示され、途中でネットワークエラーとなり、接続ができなくなる。

しかも、VirtualBox6.1上のKali Linux 2021.1で起動しているFirefoxが「Server Not Found」と表示され、「Hack The Box」へアクセスできなくなる。

■試したこと

・.ovpnファイルを編集してTCP 443に切り替える。切り替えたが接続できない、もしくは失敗する。

■追記

2021年5月18日、Virtualbox6.1を再インストールし、KaliLinux2021.1も再インストールし直して、VPN接続を試みると、接続できた。今後も接続に不具合があれば、追記する。
